THE WESTIE VINTARA RED
The Babich family has been making a red blend named Vintara for more than 50 years and this wine has been a long time favourite amongst the West Auckland community.
Pinotage, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon
Can be enjoyed with pasta, or as an accompaniment to beef or lamb dishes. Try it with wiener schnitzels topped with grilled mushrooms. Well suited to winter drinking.
The fruit is crushed at our Auckland winery and fermented at relatively high temperatures with frequent pump-overs for tannin and colour extraction. The wine is then pressed and blended then allowed to mature prior to bottling.
A spicy nose with red fruit, vanilla and a touch of candied apple is complemented by a smooth medium weight palate showing sweet fruit, raspberries and a touch earthy richness. This is a soft red wine with great drink-ability.
